In this Denzel Washington/Julia Roberts vehicle, from the book by John Grisham, Jake plays "Curtis," the secret informant who puts his life on the line in order to reveal the truth about a conspiracy to murder supreme court justices.  Jake appears only briefly in the film, visible mostly in quick shots while on the phone blabbing about the Evil Plot.

Small role or not, Jake hits the ball out of the park at the end of the film, in his videotaped message to the authorities revealing the entire plan. His words of "goodbye" to his wife (he created the tape knowing he'd probably be dead soon) are incredibly touching. Definitely worth a look to see how much understated emotion a talented actor can imbue into the text while looking straight at a camera.
